The Kansas City Flyers was a collaborative project between Sarah DeGraffenreid, Kate Meinke, and myself. With the KC Current making women’s sports history in Kansas City and growing talk of acquiring a WNBA team, we set out to create a team that embodied KC’s history and aligned with its existing sports culture. The Flyers’ identity merges the city’s aviation legacy with classic basketball design, resulting in a timeless mark that symbolizes movement, community, and the growth of women’s sports. We honored KC’s sports tradition with a red-and-blue color palette and a simple, no-frills logo, drawing inspiration from TWA, which was once headquartered in Kansas City.
