April Greiman is a pioneer in embracing technology as an element of design, known for combining analog and digital elements to create unexpected, bright, and innovative compositions. Looking to challenge my own conceptions of convention, I redesigned the cover of her book Hybrid Imagery, aiming to capture the vibrancy, exploration, and playfulness that April brings to her work. For my final product, I blended the fluid and the rigid—the background image was made using a modular stamp kit, with the paper submerged in water and photographed, then re-shot through a monitor for added distortion. In contrast, my layout of type and shapes was squared and structured, with stark, bold typography—a personal take on April’s iconic early designs.
